Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) located in Madison, Wisconsin, seeks a Facilities Support Technician to assist with maintenance and grounds to ensure safe, biosecure operations of NWHC laboratories and facilities. You will work with leadership and staff to schedule responses to facility alarms and support critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Requires a High School Diploma.
• 2+ years of experience in AC/Heat systems, lab maintenance, and general maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license for local travel.
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in all seasons.
• Willing to participate in the Center occupational health program and may wear a respirator.
• Overnight travel may occasionally be required.
• USGS specific training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site maintenance, grounds keeping, and repairs for critical infrastructure during normal business hours.
• Operate heating and air conditioning systems, boilers, water-treatment, and building control systems.
• Maintain laboratory systems including pressure control, waste-water treatment, biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, autoclaves, and utilities.
• Perform routine inspections, equipment repairs, load/unload and setup of items, inventory cleanup, and grounds maintenance.
