Job summary

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) seeks a Facilities Support Technician to work with the Facilities Operations Specialist and Maintenance Mechanics in Madison, WI. The role involves indoor and outdoor maintenance to keep NWCH infrastructure safe and biosecure, with alarms response coordination as needed.

The technician will perform both routine and troubleshooting tasks, including boiler and chiller maintenance, lab utility support, and grounds upkeep, across all seasons.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of training or experience in AC/Heat systems, lab maintenance, and general maintenance.
• Must be a US citizen able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• A valid driver’s license for local travel and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site maintenance, grounds keeping, and repairs for critical infrastructure during normal business hours.
• Independently operate heating and cooling systems; maintain boilers, pumps, chillers, and building control systems.
• Maintain laboratory infrastructure, including lab air-pressure, waste-water treatment, biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, autoclaves, and utilities.
