Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a field technician/ intern to support building science projects. You will assist with observations and investigations across facilities and collaborate with project managers.

Responsibilities include field observations, roofing and waterproofing related tasks, EIFS and fireproofing work, anchor testing, coring, sampling and leak/forensic investigations. You must be pursuing an engineering-related degree and be able to lift up to 70 lbs.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related field.
• Interest in building forensics, mechanical systems, and structures.
• Must be able to lift 40–70 lbs multiple times a day, or occasionally 85 lbs to waist height.
• Must have reliable transportation with mileage reimbursed.

What You'll Do

• Conducting field observations associated with existing facilities

• Performing facilities related services including roofing and waterproofing, fireproofing and firestopping, exterior insulation finish systems (EIFS), anchor testing, coring, scanning, material sampling, leak investigations, and forensic investigations

• Interacting and communicating effectively with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers

What We're Looking For

• Actively pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related degree

• Interest in building forensics, mechanical systems, and structures

• Position requires carrying 40 – 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height
• Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - mileage will be reimbursed

The expected pay range for this role and location is $18-$20/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
