Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a student intern to assist with field observations and facilities-related services under supervision. You will learn hands-on building science practices while supporting roofing, waterproofing, EIFS, and testing tasks.

This role involves collaborating with site contractors and project managers, pursuing an engineering or building sciences degree, and meeting lifting and transportation requirements on active job sites in the Virginia area.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related field.
• Interest in building forensics, mechanical systems, and structures.
• Ability to carry 40–70 lbs multiple times a day and occasional lifting 85 lbs to waist height.
• Must provide suitable transportation for job sites; mileage reimbursed.

Job description

• Conducting field observations associated with existing facilities
• Performing facilities related services including roofing and waterproofing, fireproofing and firestopping, exterior insulation finish systems (EIFS), anchor testing, coring, scanning, material sampling, leak investigations, and forensic investigations
• Interacting and communicating effectively with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers

• Actively pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related degree
• Interest in building forensics, mechanical systems, and structures
• Position requires carrying 40 - 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height
• Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - mileage will be reimbursed

The expected pay range for this role and location is $18-$20/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
