Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a field technician in Chesapeake, VA to perform field observations on existing facilities and support a range of building science services. The role involves physically demanding tasks and collaboration with site contractors and project managers.

The position requires pursuing an engineering, architecture, or building science degree and a strong interest in building forensics and mechanical systems. Milage reimbursement is provided for job-site transportation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related field.
• Interest in building forensics, mechanical systems, and structures.
• Physically capable of lifting 40–70 lbs multiple times a day, or up to 85 lbs on occasion.
• Must have reliable transportation to job sites; mileage will be reimbursed.

• Performing facilities related services including roofing and waterproofing, fireproofing and firestopping, EIFS, anchor testing, coring, scanning, material sampling, leak investigations, and forensic investigations.

What You'll Do

• Conducting field observations associated with existing facilities
• Performing facilities related services including roofing and waterproofing, fireproofing and firestopping, exterior insulation finish systems (EIFS), anchor testing, coring, scanning, material sampling, leak investigations, and forensic investigations
• Interacting and communicating effectively with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers

What We're Looking For

• Actively pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or related degree
• Interest in building forensics, mechanical systems, and structures
• Position requires carrying 40 - 70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height
• Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job sites - mileage will be reimbursed

The expected pay range for this role and location is $18-$20/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
