Job summary

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 is seeking a qualified Custodial and Grounds Manager to lead district-wide custodial and grounds operations, including maintenance of athletic fields, playgrounds, and facilities, ensuring safe, clean, and welcoming environments for students and staff.

The role requires directing staff, managing budgets, coordinating events, and overseeing repair and capital improvement projects, with strong leadership, communication, and planning skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• Three years of supervisory or management experience in custodial, grounds, facilities operations, public education, or related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in custodial services, grounds maintenance, athletic-field maintenance, facility operations, or related area.
• Certifications in pesticide application, playground safety, pool operator, or related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct, supervise, and coordinate the district's custodial and grounds operations, including Building Supervisors, Building Technicians, Grounds staff, and Arena/Sports Complex staff.
• Provide staff leadership; hire, train, assign, evaluate, mentor, and develop employees while promoting professional growth and accountability.
• Establish, communicate, inspect, and enforce districtwide cleaning standards; provide training to Building Supervisors and school administrators.
• Arrange substitute or temporary building support; review and approve leave requests and timecards.
• Plan and schedule landscaping, irrigation, turf, tree, and vegetation maintenance, including athletic fields and outdoor venues.
• Oversee repair or installation of fencing, signs, playground equipment, outdoor furniture, and related exterior assets.
• Coordinate Arena and Sports Complex operations and events; support major District events and community use.
• Oversee gym floor refinishing and other scheduled custodial specialty projects.
• Manage custodial and grounds budgets, including supplies, equipment repairs, overtime, substitutes, pool chemicals, contracts, and expenditures.
• Maintain and coordinate repair of grounds, snow-removal, and related equipment; support district response to weather and emergencies.
• Plan and manage annual grounds and athletics capital improvement projects, including scope, scheduling, vendor coordination, and budget monitoring.
• Assist in sourcing, pricing, purchasing, receiving, and inventory control for custodial, grounds, pool, athletic, and event-support equipment and supplies.
• Review and approve facility-use requests; verify insurance documentation and coordinate with internal and external groups.
• Inspect buildings, grounds, playgrounds, fields, and venues to ensure cleanliness, safety, accessibility, and security.
• Ensure compliance with district policies and local, state, and federal requirements including environmental, pesticide, playground, pool, health, safety, and accessibility laws.
• Establish relationships with school administrators, staff, government agencies, vendors, contractors, community groups, and facility users.
• Prepare reports and recommendations regarding staffing, budgets, asset condition, and operational procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
