Job summary

The City of Santa Monica is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform routine maintenance and simple repairs on City facilities and grounds, including carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, and HVAC support. The role may assist journey level tradespersons with more complex repairs.

Duties include trash collection, litter removal, custodial tasks, equipment operation with a Class C license, and working outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• One year of paid general maintenance/repair experience with heavy physical labor.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and simple repairs on City facilities and grounds.
• Assist journey level tradesperson with complex repairs.
• Respond to work order assignments to pick up bulky and large trash items.
• Sweep, clean and maintain beaches, sidewalks, and City structures.
• Operate light/medium equipment with a Class C license.
