Job summary

The City of Dover is seeking a full-time Facilities, Grounds & Cemeteries Division worker to perform routine unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor for city buildings, parks, ball fields, playgrounds, traffic signals, street lights and other facilities. Work is 40 hours per week, non-exempt; $20.29 to $29.32 per hour; open until filled.

Primary duties include heavy labor, snow removal support, tool operation, and helping maintain outdoor facilities under varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent and one year of related maintenance experience.
• Valid Operator’s license required; CDL-B with air brake and tanker endorsement preferred.
• Ability to perform strenuous manual labor in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy labor supporting skilled and semi-skilled workers.
• Maintain parks, fields, cemeteries, playgrounds; mow grass; trim weeds; clear debris.
• Assist in snow removal operations; operate small trucks or plows as needed.
• Shovel snow and spread sand or salt on sidewalks, lots, and stairs.
• Load/unload heavy objects from trucks or storage units.
• Assist in disaster response and weather-related tasks.
• Operate hand tools and machinery (mowers, chainsaws, weed whackers).
• Occasionally perform traffic control at job sites.
• Operate trucks and motorized equipment as required.
• Maintain safe work procedures and flex schedule in winter.
• Collaborate with other employees and the public.
