Job summary

A local church in Indianapolis is seeking a Facility Maintenance Manager to oversee the building's upkeep and ensure safety for worship and community use. This part-time role involves managing maintenance schedules, coordinating with vendors, and supporting church events. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in facility maintenance, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to inclusivity. Pay is $25 per hour for an average of 10 hours weekly without benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in facility maintenance or a related trade.
• Ability to perform physical work, including lifting (often up to 40 lbs) and climbing ladders.
• Basic computer skills for managing schedules, emails, budgets, and inventories.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with staff, parishioners, and vendors.
• Commitment to welcoming and supporting all persons including the LGBTQIA+ community and persons of color.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of church systems including boiler, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance through contractors.
• Assess the building for maintenance/safety issues.
• Prepare spaces for events and ensure outside groups have access.
• Manage security procedures and conduct regular safety audits.
• Attend staff and Building and Grounds Committee meetings.
• Be on-site Sunday mornings to handle building and safety needs.
