Job summary

Walmart is seeking a maintenance technician at our Homewood, AL facility to perform preventive maintenance on food equipment, facilities and fixtures. You will diagnose, repair, and replace components, inspect for wear, and document work orders and costs.

You’ll operate heavy machinery and coordinate with contractors to keep operations compliant with safety standards. The role requires hands-on skills in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, along with ability to read blueprints and manuals.

Qualifications

• Vocational or technical certification and 2 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
• 4 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
• License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
• No serious traffic violations, as defined by FMCSA, in the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine preventive maintenance on food equipment, facilities, and fixtures following established schedules and guidelines.
• Inspects, cleans, and repairs equipment and fixtures; identifies replacement needs to reduce future repairs.
• Maintains work orders, schedules, and documents expenses and maintenance logs.
• Operates heavy machinery and tools; responds to emergency calls and escalates as needed.
• Coordinates with contractors and ensures safety standards and regulatory compliance.
