The role directs budgets, policy interpretation, and cross-functional coordination with Board of Education and county agencies.

The incumbent will drive strategic planning, capital projects, and day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with educational needs and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning or other closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
• 10+ years relevant progressively responsible professional experience in facilities planning, construction, maintenance or logistics.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates the entire school facilities planning and capital improvement programs.
• Develops and interprets administrative policy concerning facilities for departments, Board of Education, County Government, and the public.
• Plans and recommends operating and capital budgets for submission to the Superintendent and the Board.
• Directs activities of Planning, Construction, Maintenance, and Operations Divisions within the Department and cross-functionally with other areas of school administration.
• Evaluates programs for effectiveness, efficiency, and economy.
• Acts as liaison between AACPS and other districts/government agencies on facilities matters.
• Prepares periodic construction status reports and presents exhibits to the Board.
