Job summary

Anne Arundel County Office of Personnel is seeking a skilled supervisor to oversee the county garage, directing the repair and maintenance of automotive and heavy equipment. The role requires coordinating workload, supervising technicians, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

You will diagnose defects, review labor and materials costs, train staff, maintain records, and liaise with departments to schedule service, vehicle replacements, and related administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or vocational school.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in maintenance and repair of automotive, heavy road, and specialized equipment, including supervisory experience.
• A valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
• Preference for fleet maintenance management, vehicle maintenance systems, customer service, safety training.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, assigns, and schedules repair and maintenance work for automobiles, trucks, heavy equipment, and related machinery.
• Diagnoses defects in equipment and reviews labor and material costs.
• Trains and instructs shop personnel and maintains records of personnel and equipment.
• Inspects damaged vehicles, initiates reports, and coordinates with departments for service completion.
• Develops shop operating policies and ensures compliance with safety procedures and administrative guidelines.
• Closes work orders in county systems and coordinates vehicle replacement with relevant agencies.
