Job summary

Bear River Casino Resort in Loleta, CA is seeking a Facilities Technician to support the Facilities Engineer II with installations, maintenance and repairs across the casino facility.

This role covers plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and preventative maintenance. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and experience with building systems is valued. Flexibility for shifts and weekends is required.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

To effectively and efficiently assist the Facilities Engineer II with installs, maintain and repairs equipment to the overall casino facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains overall integrity of the facility and outbuildings
  • Duties may include repair, maintenance or new construction involving plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, concrete, or HVAC equipment
  • Assures quality guest service to patrons during scheduled shift
  • Adheres to all company Policies and Procedures
  • Communicates any observed departmental problems to supervisor
  • Maintain and repair equipment and buildings by performing a variety of semi-skilled electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning and mechanical repair work
  • Repair and replace plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets and pipes; clear obstructions from lines
  • Perform basic carpentry work including repairing of cabinets, partitions, walls, windows, doors
  • Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs and safety issues
  • Maintain and repair a variety of floor coverings such as carpeting, tile, VCT and wood
  • Operate, maintain and repair a variety of mechanical tools and equipment such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, sewer augers, and various hand tools required for basic electrical, basic plumbing, and maintenance work
  • Read and interpret sketches, diagrams and blueprints
  • Repair and maintain electrical lighting systems and fixtures
  • Monitor and maintain preventive maintenance records and logs
  • May perform custodial duties
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times
  • Performs general manual labor task including loading, unloading, lifting and moving of materials
  • Monitors the facility and grounds as assigned to ensure cleanliness and proper aesthetics of the property
  • Completes Work Requests as assigned
  • Keep storage facilities neat and orderly
  • Maintains continuity among shift by documenting engineering actions: noting system or equipment irregularities requiring continued monitoring
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Is responsible for the Facilities Shift Supervisors when the Director or Engineer II are not available.

QUALIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to use a multi-meter.
  • Experience with schematics and blue prints preferred.
  • Must be able to operate, or learn to operate, all maintenance equipment (scissor lift, boom truck, tractor, power washer etc.)
  • Must have experience in all aspects of building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting.
  • Must be willing and able to learn about HVAC systems.
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Must present professional appearance at all times.
  • The incumbent is expected to work the necessary hours to meet the needs of a 24 hour establishment, must be flexible and available to work any shift, weekends and holidays as needed.
