Job summary

Avison Young is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain building systems and support preventative maintenance, work orders, and inspections in a fast-paced environment. This is a client-facing position with on-call rotation.

The role requires at least 2 years of commercial building maintenance experience, a Massachusetts driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. On-site work with comprehensive benefits is provided.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial building maintenance.
Massachusetts driver’s license and clean driving record.
Must have own hand tools.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must have reliable transportation.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to express ideas clearly in written and verbal communications.
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service.
Self-motivated, proactive, organized, ability to work independently and as a team.
Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

Work with building management systems and monitoring systems (elevators, fire systems, work orders).
Perform light building repairs – carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, tiling.
Conduct daily inspections of mechanical rooms, offices, and kitchens.
Maintain knowledge of HVAC components and heat pumps.
Assist with snow removal as needed.
Respond to occupant requests and coordinate with Property Management.
Monitor vendor performance to ensure contract standards.
Facilitate maintenance with vendors and construction crews.
Document repairs on work orders and maintain records.
Build positive relations with clients, tenants, vendors, and contractors.
Be on call as directed by Chief Engineer; rotating schedule for nights/weekends.
Open, read and respond to company emails; attend meetings.
