Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a skilled Electrician for a 12-month, 8-hour shift to maintain and repair district electrical systems. You will diagnose, repair, and prevent electrical failures, reading diagrams, and coordinating with facilities staff under the Director of Facilities.

The role requires completion of an electrical apprenticeship or vocational training and 2+ years as an electrician, with up to five years preferred. Strong safety and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship or vocational training program.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a commercial, industrial, or institutional electrician; five years preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and manuals.
• Knowledge of NEC and electrical safety standards; ability to troubleshoot and repair.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and building infrastructure.
• Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to complete assigned work.
• Estimate materials, labor, and costs for maintenance projects.
• Coordinate work with staff, contractors, and District personnel to minimize disruption.
• Respond to emergency electrical failures and after-hours calls as required.
