Job summary

Sylvania seeks a Lead Custodian to ensure a clean, safe, and attractive environment for students and staff. The role oversees shifts, conducts routine maintenance on boilers and major equipment, and coordinates cleaning and repairs across the facility.

The ideal candidate has custodial experience and is skilled in basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC tasks, with the ability to write reports and manage supplies.

Qualifications

• Has at least limited experience as a school custodian or the equivalent in other institutions or firms.
• Knowledge of basic electrical repair, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC.
• Reads basic operating instructions and is able to write reports.
• Performs tasks with heavy physical effort and prolonged standing.

Responsibilities

• Checks and readings on boilers and other major equipment and performs maintenance.
• Assists the first and second shift custodians with scheduling and training.
• Maintains painting and general repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC.
• Coordinates and participates in cleaning and maintenance of the school building.
• Assists with remodeling and renovation as directed by Facilities Director.
