Job summary

Better Living seeks a Maintenance Director to oversee safe, clean, and comfortable environments across our senior living communities. You will perform and supervise maintenance, repairs, and safety tasks in compliance with regulations, ensuring high-quality resident and staff experiences.

The role requires hands-on skills in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, along with strong problem-solving and teamwork. On-call duties and multi-site mobility may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years general maintenance experience; healthcare setting preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools and follow instructions.
• Must pass background check and have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Conduct regular inspections of the facility, equipment, and systems for safety and operation.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.
• Maintain resident rooms, common areas, and grounds.
• Ensure compliance with life safety codes and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain maintenance logs and manage inventory of supplies/parts.
• Assist with room preparation for new residents (painting, flooring, fixtures).
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized work.
• Snow removal, landscaping, and seasonal grounds maintenance.
• May travel between multiple locations; be on-call as needed.
