Job summary

Decatur County Family YMCA in Greensburg, IN is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead the maintenance and operations of the facility and grounds. You will oversee janitorial and maintenance staff, develop preventive maintenance plans, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred) and at least 3 years of facilities management experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum of 3 years facilities management experience.
• Working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repair.
• CPR, AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment; boiler certification within 120 days if applicable.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record meeting YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate janitorial and maintenance staff; foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
• Implement and monitor facility operations plans, including daily cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and risk management procedures.
• Develop and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule to minimize disruptions and extend facility longevity.
• Maintain building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical) and oversee timely repairs to equipment and facilities.
• Monitor departmental budgets and identify cost-effective maintenance solutions.
• Conduct daily walk-throughs to assess facility conditions and ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; act as primary liaison with fire, health, and building departments.
• Manage vendor relationships and oversee all contractors; solicit and evaluate bids when needed.
• Maintain accurate records related to warranties, inspections, and compliance documentation.
• Ensure landscaping and building exteriors reflect a clean and inviting appearance.
• Participate in required YMCA trainings and meetings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the YMCA’s mission and operational success.
