Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Custodian I – Shift 2 at Church Creek School to perform cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Duties include sweeping floors, operating custodial equipment, trash disposal, and assisting in snow removal.

The role requires physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and follow safety procedures. High school diploma or GED preferred; one year of custodial experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum ninth grade education required; ability to read and follow written instructions.
• One year of custodial or related experience preferred.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders when needed.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment and sweeps/cleans floors in classrooms, offices, and other areas.
• Uses custodial equipment such as vacuums, buffers, scrubbing machines, and cleaners.
• Collects and disposes of trash and surfaces; moves furniture as needed.
• Maintains lavatories and clean windows, fixtures, and desks.
• Assists in snow removal and campus maintenance activities.
• Responds to emergencies and performs other duties as assigned.
