Job summary

Winona County is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform custodial, grounds, and minor maintenance duties in county facilities. The role involves indoor and outdoor work, safe operations of equipment, and basic safety responsibilities.

Requires flexibility for snowstorms and inclement weather, with potential lead worker direction in some cases. The position starts at $23.31/hour (DOQ) with advancement up to $29.92/hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in custodial services or related training.
• Two years custodial or building maintenance experience is highly desired.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain prior to hire date.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written assignments.
• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and coworkers.
• Ability to utilize basic computer skills.
• Must be able to medically qualify for the use of a respirator.
• Must pass a personal background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Performs general custodial duties: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, and waxing floors; rest rooms sanitation; window cleaning; trash collection; supplies replenishment.
• Performs grounds maintenance: sweeping sidewalks, mowing, landscaping, snow removal, parking lot maintenance.
• Performs minor maintenance: doors/locks, lighting, electrical fixtures, furniture; minor plumbing repairs.
• Starts up and shuts down equipment as instructed by supervisor.
• Assists in the County Safety program and drills.
• Any other duties as assigned.
