Job summary

Dorchester County is seeking a reliable custodial worker to perform cleaning and maintenance of county buildings, keeping hallways, restrooms, kitchens, lobbies, and common areas safe and sanitary for staff and visitors. Work is performed under set procedures with supervision, and may include light repairs and supervision of inmate workers. This full-time position follows a 7:30 a.m.

to 3:00 p.m. schedule (Mon–Fri) with occasional evenings or weekend work during emergencies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
At least six (6) months of related custodial work experience.
Valid state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Perform custodial maintenance of assigned County buildings and facilities including walkways, stairways, elevators, offices, kitchen areas, lobby areas, courtrooms, judge chambers and restrooms.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, windows, floors, and other surfaces; dust and polish furniture; remove trash; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
Stock restrooms with supplies; perform light maintenance such as changing bulbs and minor repairs; maintain security of doors and windows.
May oversee inmate workers in custodial tasks; maintain records of work performed; attend required training.
Provide coverage for special meetings and respond to inquiries from County employees and the public.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
