Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to work.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials/equipment, heating systems, electricity and mechanics.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions related to safety and equipment.
• Ability to work with supervision and independently as needed.
• Proven ability to work cooperatively or independently with others.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily duties per shift: cleaning restrooms, trash removal, vacuuming, refilling dispensers.
• Inspect and perform tasks: dust, scrub floors, wash windows, carpets, and fixtures.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and report shortages to supervisor.
• Report building deficiencies to head custodian and address minor repairs.
• Provide routine maintenance and inspect emergency lights and safety devices.
• Perform grounds tasks: snow/ice removal and grounds cleaning as needed.
• Secure building at end of shift and activate security systems.
• Assist with moving furniture and supplies up to 75 pounds.
• Assist principal, teachers, and students to maintain a safe educational environment.
• Participate in special custodial/maintenance projects as assigned.
