Job summary

The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department is seeking a dedicated custodian to join the facilities team. Under supervision, you will clean, sanitize and maintain designated areas and restrooms, while supporting groundskeeping and inventory management.

Flexibility to cover absences and assist with trainings is essential. You will also maintain required trainings (Hazardous Waste, Blood Borne pathogens, OSHA) and provide professional service to staff and stakeholders, ensuring a safe,

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of cleaning methods, safety practices, equipment and supplies.
• Ability to understand and carry out routine listings of supplies and prepare other simple reports and records.
• Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
• Physical abilities include balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting up to fifty pounds with assistance, grasping, hearing, smelling, and repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize designated areas, buildings and restrooms to ensure a clean, accessible and presentable environment.
• Maintain grounds by tending plants, clearing debris and ensuring walkways are clear.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and keep closets neatly arranged.
• Perform all tasks safely and in compliance with agency policies, using proper signage and PPE.
• Maintain trainings and certifications (Hazardous Waste, Blood Borne pathogens, OSHA).
• Cover absences or vacancies and provide flexible support as needed.
• Provide exceptional customer service and interact professionally with staff and stakeholders.
• Assist with set up or breakdown of trainings and meetings and complete duties accurately within time.
