Job summary

City of Melbourne is seeking a reliable custodian/janitor to maintain cleanliness and safety across facilities. Under supervision, you will perform routine cleaning, set up event spaces, and ensure restrooms and common areas are well-maintained.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed. A High School Diploma or GED is preferred, with a Florida driver’s license being advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid Florida driver’s license required; out-of-state license must obtain Florida license within 10 days of employment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, polish, and vacuum assigned areas.
• Wash walls, windows, woodwork, and mirrors.
• Clean restrooms; stock supplies and ensure fixtures work.
• Remove rubbish; dispose of trash in designated areas.
• Set up and break down tables and chairs for events.
• Clean outdoor grounds and remove rubbish.
