Job summary

Dorchester County is looking for a dependable Custodian to perform custodial maintenance across County buildings, ensuring a clean and safe environment for staff and visitors. The role operates under close supervision with established procedures.

Typical shifts are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and emergencies. Valid driver’s license preferred and mandatory safety practices apply.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides general custodial maintenance of County buildings and facilities.
• Cleans restrooms, kitchens, lobby areas, offices, classrooms and courtrooms.
• Maintains cleanliness of floors, windows, furniture and surfaces; vacuums, mops and polishes.
• Stocks restrooms with supplies and reports needed repairs.
• Performs light maintenance such as bulb replacement and minor repairs.
• Oversees inmate workers where applicable; adheres to safety standards.
• Keeps accurate records of work performed and materials used.
