Job summary

SBM Management Services, LP is seeking a Custodian to maintain cleanliness and sanitation across assigned areas in the Washington, DC area. You will perform daily janitorial tasks, operate cleaning equipment, handle hazardous waste duties, and maintain a safe, professional work environment.

The role requires ability to follow schedules, report hazards, and work collaboratively with the team. A valid driver’s license may be needed; forklift certification could be required in some locations.

Qualifications

• No specific education requirement; 3–6 months training or experience preferred.
• Forklift certification may be required.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for this position based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties.
• Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule.
• Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of hazardous waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Stop at risk behavior of others and self.
• Perform work assignments in a team with other employees.
• Fill in during staff shortage.
• Support shift lead in completing punch-list items.
• Use proper personal protective equipment.
• Present a professional appearance and conduct.
• Understand customer service and satisfaction.
• The ability to drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
