Job summary

BERKELEY COUNTY GOVERNMENT is seeking a Custodian to perform routine cleaning and ground maintenance in a moderately supervised to independent capacity. The role includes floor care, trash removal, and restocking supplies as part of daily duties. The position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) preferred and at least six months of custodial experience in a large environment.

A valid SC driver’s license and background check are required. Normal hours are 3:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• HS diploma preferred; classes offered to pursue diploma.
• 6 months of custodial experience in a large environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists in routine building and ground maintenance including cleaning (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash disposal, dusting).
• Loads/unloads equipment and supplies as needed.
• Stock and maintain dispensers (soap, toilet tissue, cleaning supplies).
• Maintain open spaces, grounds, turf, indoor/outdoor facilities by cleaning gutters, trash, moving furniture, dumping garbage.
• Order supplies.
• Strip, seal, buff/wax floors, spot clean carpets, polish wood fixtures, disinfect and treat restrooms and fountains.
• Change light bulbs as needed.
