Job summary

Scottsdale Unified School District is seeking a crew leader to guide a small maintenance team in daily tasks such as cleaning, repairs, and groundskeeping at district facilities in Scottsdale, AZ. You will train staff, prioritize work, and ensure safety and standards are met across activities.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of relevant maintenance experience. A valid Arizona driver’s license is required, with pesticide applicator license as a possible requirement

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, and two years of relevant maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of safety practices and proper handling of tools and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, sketches and plans.
• Experience with basic carpentry and groundskeeping tasks.
• Ability to manage inventory and coordinate supplies.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a crew leader to lower level staff, prioritizing and assigning work.
• Monitor performance of staff and participate in evaluations.
• Perform manual labor tasks including cleaning, moving furniture, digging, painting, and related duties.
• Respond to internal requests and emergencies to ensure safety of students and staff.
• Monitor contracted cleaning companies for compliance with standards.
• Maintain logs, forms and communications within area of responsibility.
• Maintain facilities, vehicles and equipment; perform routine repairs and troubleshoot.
• Coordinate activities with external vendors for maintenance and custodial work.
• Process shipping, receiving, purchase orders and bills of lading.
• Monitor inventory levels and recommend purchases.
