Job summary

The ACLU is seeking a Facilities Project Manager for the Business Operations and Support Services department in Washington, DC. This full-time, hybrid role reports to the Director of Facilities and will oversee renovation and construction projects for ACLUs facilities, including the National Headquarters in New York City.

Responsibilities include managing vendors, budgets, and schedules, coordinating with design and construction teams, and ensuring compliance and effective workplace operations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in design and construction project management.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace operations and effective workplace design.
  • Knowledge of change management and project management best practices; able to communicate with staff at all levels.
  • Experience with small and medium scale projects in large buildings.
  • Experience in nonprofit environment preferred.
  • Experience managing construction projects in occupied spaces.
  • Experience managing permitting and building compliance.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Problem solving and independent decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organizational structure.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead renovation and construction projects for ACLUs owned buildings in DC and HQ in NYC and satellite offices.
  • Manage vendors, architects, engineers, and contractors; oversee contracts and change orders.
  • Develop and track project budgets; ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate with senior staff to define program needs and communicate with consultants.
  • Support risk management, change management strategies, and stakeholder communications.
  • Occasional travel as needed; work in a hybrid model with in-office days.
