Job summary

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is seeking a driven Facilities Construction Coordinator II to oversee construction, facility renovations, and critical life/safety projects across our institutions.

In this dynamic position, you will help steer a team towards success from design to delivery—managing consultant partnerships, inspecting field operations, reviewing architectural plans, and ensuring full compliance with NDCS Engineering procedures and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction with eight years experience in construction or construction inspection.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve pay requests from outside consultants and contractors.
• Review accuracy of drawings and specifications prepared by outside consultants.
• Supervise renovation projects, make periodic site visits.
• Assist in the preparation of budget requests for capital construction, deferred maintenance, and life/safety projects.
• Review and recommend approval of change orders.
• Review and assist with final designs for architectural and engineering projects (plans & specs).
• Review all plans, specifications, and other documents for adherence to NDCS Engineering procedures and requirements.
• Work with other members of the Engineering team and facility staff during inspection and verification of funding requests at all NDCS facilities.
• Inspect all DCS facilities to help define and catalog deferred maintenance projects.
