Job summary

City of Dallas is hiring an entry-level Carpenter to perform maintenance and construction work on city facilities. You will assist in fabricating wood structures, repairing doors and fixtures, and supporting various building projects and seasonal maintenance.

The role requires a year of carpentry or general construction experience, a valid driver's license, and flexibility for overtime and weather conditions. CDL eligibility may be required for certain positions.

Qualifications

• 1 year of carpentry or general construction experience.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Some positions require ability to obtain Texas Class A CDL within probationary period.
• Subject to overtime work and inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Assemble stages and risers for events; provide woodworking expertise for structures.
• Repair doors, frames, locks, masonry, tile, modular furniture, and rest room partitions.
• Install and repair chain link fences; maintain park structures and wood facilities.
• Assist with carpentry maintenance including cabinetmaking, woodwork, and drywall work.
• Construct barricades for traffic control at events; perform concrete work for sidewalks and retaining walls.
• Read floorplans, measure jobs, and calculate needed materials.
• Support other trades and seasonal facility maintenance as needed.
