Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Carpenter to perform journey-level and experienced carpentry maintenance and construction in city facilities, following local building codes to keep spaces safe, functional, and presentable.

You will lead other carpenters, coordinate with trades, inspect work, and assist with after-hours emergency responses, repairs, and renovations such as doors, frames, locks, masonry, and concrete work.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of carpentry and/or general construction experience.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Ability to work varying shifts including nights, weekends and/or holidays.
• Knowledge of blueprints and construction drawings.
• Knowledge of city codes as it relates to carpentry.
• Strong safety awareness and use of hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled carpentry work in fabrication and maintenance of wood structures and equipment; inspects carpentry work.
• Provides leadership in building maintenance incl. doors, frames, locks, masonry, tile, and rest room partitions.
• Installs and repairs fences, concrete work, park structures, and related carpentry tasks.
• Coordinates activities with other trades and responds to after-hours emergencies.
• Constructs barricades for traffic control at events and performs minor cabinetmaking and drywall work.
• Reads floorplans, measures jobs, and tracks work orders and bids.
• Assists with seasonal facility maintenance and cross-trade collaboration.
• Works as assigned to support city facilities and safety.
