Job summary

The City of Dallas is hiring an entry-level Carpenter to perform maintenance and construction work on City facilities. You will assist with wood structures, doors, frames, locks, and related carpentry tasks to keep spaces safe and functional.

Ideal candidates have basic carpentry skills, a valid driver's license, and are able to obtain a CDL if required. This role involves some overtime and weather-related duties as part of city operations.

Qualifications

• One year of carpentry and/or general construction experience.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Ability to obtain Texas Class A CDL within probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Assists with carpentry maintenance and construction work on City facilities.
• Repairs doors, frames, locks, masonry, tile, and modular office furniture as needed.
• Constructs barricades for traffic control at events and performs concrete work for sidewalks and retainer walls.
• Reads blueprints, measures jobs, and calculates bids for materials.
• Works with other trades to maintain and repair buildings and spaces.
• Performs seasonal maintenance to keep facilities safe and functional.
• Completes any other related tasks as assigned.
