Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Carpenter to perform journey-level carpentry, fabricating and repairing furniture and fixtures in city facilities, complying with local building codes to keep spaces safe and presentable. You will lead other carpenters, coordinate with trades, and support events by constructing stages, fences, and barriers, while maintaining project quality and schedules.

Daily duties include reading blueprints, estimating bids, and ordering supplies, with after-hours coverage

Qualifications

• Three years of carpentry or general construction experience.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Must pass Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check.
• Shifts include nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed.
• All qualifications must be included in the application materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled carpentry work fabricating and maintaining wood structures and equipment; assemble stages and risers for events; inspect carpentry work.
• Lead and supervise carpenters; ensure safety and high quality of work.
• Install/repair doors, frames, locks; masonry and tile repairs; furniture and restroom components.
• Coordinate with other trades for after-hours emergencies; respond to priority work.
• Construct barricades for traffic control at events; build sidewalks and retaining walls.
• Read floorplans, estimate bids, track work orders and progress.
• Assist with seasonal facility maintenance; collaborate with other trades.
• Perform other duties as needed.
