Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Job Title: Building and Grounds TechnicianDepartment: FacilitiesLocation: Rochester General Hospital- 1425 Portland Ave, Rochester, NY 14621Hours Per Week: 40 Hrs.Schedule: 7am-330pmSUMMARY:This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional healthcare grounds environment and is responsible for the upkeep of facility infrastructure, grounds, and equipment to support patient care, staff operations, and regulatory compliance.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Maintain hospital grounds including landscaping, snow removal, and exterior cleanliness.• Safely operate and maintain a range of grounds maintenance equipment- including mowers, trimmers, blowers and other tools• Basic landscaping- edging, pruning and weeding• Snow removal in the winter months, Truck with plow, Ventrac and hand shoveling• Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., DNV, OSHA, NFPA).• Assist with environmental services and infection control protocols during repairs and renovations.• Support facility readiness for emergency situations, including backup power systems and disaster preparedness.• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and inspections.• Maintain accurate documentation of work orders, inspections, and compliance logs.• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Familiarity with DNV standards and healthcare compliance requirements.• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols in clinical environments.• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.• Strong communication and customer service skills.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• 2+ years of experience in building maintenance and grounds/landscaping, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:• Valid NYS Driver's LicenseEDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.PAY RANGE:$19.75 - $25.06CITY:RochesterPOSTAL CODE:14621The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
