Responsibilities

ABOUT ACHIEVERS:

Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is New Jersey’s first public charter school for students in middle school and high school that provides them with the unique opportunity to pursue one of four STEAM pathways (Health Sciences, Digital Media, Audio Engineering and Cisco Computer Networking). Students can have access to a program that allows them to earn up to 60 college credits, NOCTI credentials and workplace training. AECP is determined to ensure that students can enhance their journey through high school and graduate with content mastery, skills, and experiences that are essential to the current marketplace and the world beyond.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Facilities and Maintenance Manager supports the successful operations of the AECP facilities, and business functions at multi‐use sites through interaction with internal customers and external service providers. The incumbent will also coordinate work with outside vendors performing maintenance or calibration activities. The incumbent in this role will have specific job tasks and processes to follow to perform their job. This individual works independently to complete assignments and oversees the successful completion of tasks scheduled for contractors. Using solid analytical skills, the incumbent can recognize problems of moderate scope and complexity, and independently, develop potential solutions and courses of action. You will also oversee and maintain the boilers at each site.

As the Facilities and Maintenance Manager:
  • Report time: 6:45am-3:45pm mandatory
  • Attend all evening meetings and events as assigned including Parent Teacher Conferences, Back to School Night, Report Card Night, special events, and all others as assigned by the direct supervisor.
  • Occasional late evenings and weekends
  • Strong knowledge of facility management systems
  • Strong Knowledge of Document Management
  • Confirm that incoming vendors are appropriately trained for work that is being performed.
  • Coordinate all site visits with contractors. Attend all walkthrough meetings and follow up tasks.
  • Coordinate all building inspections monthly and annually.
  • Maintain the school grounds interior and exterior
  • Coordinate rental requests of facilities
  • Maintain inventory of all cleaning supplies, water supplies, and facilities products
  • Assist in the setup/breakdown of the school food program breakfast/lunch/snack. Set up breakfast and lunch for students, as well as grab-and-go meals for community members.
  • Maintain and store orders as they arrive.
  • Organize and order maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Maintain logs for all boilers, appliances, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, security systems, etc. Ensure that all appliances are in working order daily and perform/request maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain active boiler license (required). Maintain and operate boiler systems and boiler equipment; perform adjustments, observe factors such as temperature and pressure and write daily records.
  • Maintain and clean, boiler area, building, and grounds as specified in the School Maintenance Manual.
  • Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate seasonal temperature
  • Ensure that walkways and stairways are free of ice and snow (the school has a snow removal contract with an outside vendor)
  • Keeps buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
  • Cleans corridors during and after school when required.
  • Ensure that the schools are opened/closed safely and efficiently daily.
  • Perform building maintenance and upkeep during school breaks including (damaged/broken materials, removing unwanted items, general maintenance)
  • Daily cleaning of classrooms/offices spaces, disinfecting and sanitizing all areas including sinks, toilets, bathrooms, stairwells, mpr, gym, hallways, cafeteria, windows, doors, trash disposal/recycling.
  • General understanding building systems including life safety, lighting, electrical, HVAC and plumbing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (As Applicable)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of facilities maintenance/ operations experience at and industrial or commercial site or related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Boiler Operator Certification is preferred or willingness to obtain a license within an acceptable amount of time after date of hire.
  • Associate degree (Preferred)
  • Be able to lift up to 30lbs.
