Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti in Boston is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Northeast Building Envelope team, focusing on investigating and remediating existing buildings, exterior restoration, preservation design, forensics, and facade/roofing design and construction administration.

We value 5+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s in Architecture or Engineering (Master’s preferred), licensure preferred, and strong knowledge of building envelope systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in architecture or engineering; master’s preferred.
• 5+ years of building envelope experience and knowledge.
• Licensure is preferred.
• Experience with assessments, CDs, and construction-phase services.
• Travel to Maine, New Hampshire, northern Massachusetts and the Northeast.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Revit and AutoCAD; Sketchup and Rhino/Grasshopper preferred; THERM and WUFI helpful.

Responsibilities

• Manage building envelope consulting projects and liaise with clients.
• Conduct condition assessments and develop material testing programs.
• Prepare reports, repair design strategies, and design narratives with basis-of-design.
• Review design drawings and specs; provide construction-phase services.
• Coordinate with design architects, structural engineers, conservators, labs, owners, and contractors.
• Collaborate with TT disciplines and other offices; interpret codes and specs.
