Job Responsibilities:

Roles and Responsibilities

Fabricate and weld projects required from Assembly, Press, or Cradles. The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for welding on all types of steels and castings and fabricating tools, jigs, and fixtures for production.

Essential Functions

• Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
• Understand and promote Magna's philosophies.
• Perform welding using Mig, Tig, and arc cutting torches.
• Operate machining tools such as mill, lathe, grinder, drill press, brake press, ironworker, shear, saw, plasma table.
• Use hand tools like grinders and drills.
• Work from blueprints and sketches.
• Design and create tools, fixtures, and fittings.
• Have knowledge of preheating steel or casting and welding rods.
• Fabricate all types of elements as required.
• Maintain welding equipment.
• Operate small machines, tools, and equipment.
• Perform flame hardening and flame cutting as needed.
• Promote good housekeeping (5S) and TPM.
• Operate a forklift and overhead crane.

Position Requirements

• Knowledge of basic drafting, blueprint reading, and dimension drawings.
• Understanding of basic engineering practices and functions.
• Ability to use hand tools and small machines.

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required; a 2-year Associate Degree from an accredited technical college is preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Strong technical background with previous welding/fabricating experience; minimum 3 years in a heavy industrial environment.
