As a Fabricator/Welder, you will be responsible for welding a variety of material thicknesses, various joint configurations, and positions. You will be dealing with common fabrication practices such as grinding, sheet metal bending, squaring of structures, fitting parts, and reading weld schematics. Reporting directly to the manager, this position is based in Pittsburg, KS.

3rd Shift - Sun-Wed - 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: At least 1 year of welding experience or training. Must have or achieve welding certification. Ability to obtain forklift certification. Production welding or a certificate in welding is required. Successful completion of welding test as part of the interview
  • Skills: Able to read a tape measure and blueprints. Able to properly operate welding equipment. Must be trained in applicable SOPs and work instructions. Equipment includes welding machines, cutting torches, buffers, grinders, overhead cranes, ratchet straps, rubber hammers, and tape measures. Responsible for operating machinery such as brake presses, punch presses, control presses, shears, and cut-off saws.
  • Customer Focus: Requires regular attendance during scheduled shifts, with overtime and weekends as required.
  • Physical Demands: Manufacturing/welding position; spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling, crouching, reaching. Requires clear vision at close distances for reading prints/instructions and marking reference points.

What You’ll Do

  • Reference the blueprint and confer with the Lead to determine job requirements.
  • Gather necessary materials and perform layout per specifications.
  • Set up the welding machine and adjust settings.
  • Operate welding gun to weld steel, aluminum, etc.
  • Visually examine welds for adherence to quality standards; reweld defective joints and remove surplus slag, flux, and spatter.
  • Operate cutting torch and plasma cutter as needed.
  • Apply weld stencil and notify the Lead or Inspector when the product is ready for inspection.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to keep the work area clean.
