Position Summary:
The Fabrication Team Leader is responsible for processing materials to be fabricated into finished products through sawing, lathing, milling, drilling, CNC, and forming. The role includes coordinating with welding, assembly prep, shipping, and assembly teams, as well as assisting with project scheduling and planning throughout the fabrication process.
Major Responsibilities:
* Establish and develop a backup group leader for the fabrication area to manage daily activities in the absence of the primary leader.
* Review fabrication job packets for accuracy and notify relevant personnel of errors.
* Study blueprints to determine logical fabrication sequences.
* Lead a team working on fabrication jobs.
* Assist in the fabrication of assigned jobs.
* Conduct spot inspections to ensure products are fabricated correctly and on schedule.
* Update production schedules and communicate issues during meetings.
* Ensure QIK forms are complete and accurate.
* Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
* Complete labor reports, material issues, kit lists, scrap reports, and material moves accurately.
* Conduct safety training for shop associates.
* Order tooling and supplies.
* Perform cycle counts for materials and inventory control.
* Monitor and provide feedback on employee performance.
* Perform other duties as required.
Required Education / Experience / Skills:
* Manage and develop personnel, including training, appraisal, and work assignment.
* Receive guidance on objectives and determine methods, work sequence, and schedule within policy guidelines.
* High school diploma or GED; 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent.
* Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and manuals.
* Proficient in writing reports and speaking effectively.
* Mathematical skills including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
* Problem-solving skills in practical situations.
* Proficient PC skills (email, record keeping, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics).
* Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Travel: Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%).
Language: English.
