Job summary

DemKota Ranch Beef in Aberdeen, SD is seeking an Experienced Fabrication Supervisor to lead line operations, ensure product quality and yield, and manage hourly staff on the day shift.

You will maintain safety and sanitation, complete pre-operational paperwork, and participate in daily and monthly meetings while upholding union guidelines.

The role requires 1–2 years in a packing-house/beef processing environment and strong leadership, communication, and bilingual abilities if available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1–2 years of packing-house/beef-processing experience is required.
• Knowledge of fabricated beef products and product specifications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to lead, coach and motivate line employees.
• Bilingual skills preferred if translation support is available.

Responsibilities

• Supervise hourly line employees and ensure quality and yield targets.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and properly staffed line area.
• Complete pre-operational paperwork and ensure sanitation before operations begin.
• Monitor line productivity and employee performance per Foreman’s guidance.
• Attend daily supervisor meetings and provide operational input.
• Administer performance actions per policy and union requirements.

Position Summary:

The Fabrication Supervisor leads assigned line operations to meet product quality, yield, safety, sanitation, staffing, productivity, and employee performance expectations. This position supervises hourly employees, supports training and communication, and ensures products leaving the line meet required specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure product quality and yield requirements are achieved on the assigned line.
• Supervise all hourly employees assigned to the line.
• Maintain a safe work area and motivate employees to perform effectively.
• Ensure all products leaving the line area meet required specifications.
• Complete pre-operational paperwork and verify the line is clean and sanitized before operations begin.
• Ensure the area is properly staffed to meet production needs.
• Prepare and maintain required employee paperwork for line employees.
• Manage line productivity and employee performance in accordance with expectations established by the General Foreman, Fabrication.
• Understand and follow applicable union requirements when managing hourly employees.
• Attend daily fabrication supervisor meetings and provide operational input.
• Conduct monthly line meetings with hourly employees.
• Administer and document follow-up training for all employees on the line.
• Administer corrective action for hourly employees, from verbal warnings through termination, in accordance with company policy and applicable union requirements.

Qualifications: Desired Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• One to two years of packing-house experience required; beef-processing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of fabricated beef products and applicable product specifications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead, coach, and motivate employees.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required when translation support is available in the line area.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Work is performed primarily in a refrigerated, wet, and industrial beef-processing environment.
• Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and communication on the production floor are required.
• Required personal protective equipment must be worn and all safety and sanitation procedures must be followed.
