Job summary

Staffmark Group in Houston, TX is seeking a Fabrication Shop Assistant to support daily fabrication operations. The role offers a pay rate of $18.00 - $20.00 per hour and a 1st shift from 6am to 2:30pm.

You will coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and production activities to ensure safety, efficiency, and adherence to schedules and quality standards. Experience in manufacturing and strong organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of similar manufacturing, fabrication, production, or shop coordination experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and coordinating daily fabrication activities for welders, fitters, helpers, and material handlers.
  • Monitor production progress and report status updates to the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Ensure employees have the necessary drawings, materials, tools, and equipment to perform tasks.
  • Support the implementation of production schedules and priorities.
  • Track labor hours and productivity for ongoing projects.
  • Coordinate material movements between fabrication, painting, storage, and shipping areas.
  • Verify that work is performed according to drawings, procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs to identify delays, safety concerns, and housekeeping issues.
  • Assist with workforce planning and manpower allocation based on project needs.
  • Support onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Maintain production records, reports, and workshop documentation.
  • Escalate production, quality, or safety issues to the Workshop Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Education Requirements

Experience Requirements


  • Minimum 2 years of similar manufacturing, fabrication, production, or shop coordination experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to analyze data and solve production-related issues

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Experience coordinating personnel, materials, or workflow preferred


Job Duties

  • Maintain production records, reports, and documentation

  • Escalate production, quality, and safety concerns when necessary


Physical Capabilities


  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive production tasks throughout the shift.

  • Ability to lift materials, components, or finished products weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to safely operate around production equipment and moving machinery.

  • Ability to maintain productivity while working in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
