Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Fabrications Product Quality Auditor for the 2nd shift in Sanford, NC. The role focuses on inspecting fabrication structures and welded joints to ensure compliance with engineering specs, and documenting defects in the defect management system.

Responsibilities include upholding CPS principles and 5S, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement. The position requires practical quality/fabrication experience and basic tool proficiency.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills are required.
• Ability to use measuring tools and gauges.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar ATRS, PINPoint,Geneo.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).
• Previous quality, welding or fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

• Completes inspections of fabrication structures and undercarriage using standard work, a checklist, and tooling provided (gauges, templates, etc.).
• Performs overall quality inspection at quality gates or at pre-delivery inspection.
• Inspects welds on the product to ensure it meets the specifications as outlined by Engineering.
• Identifies defects, takes pictures, and records results in the defect management system.
• Follows and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work.
