Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Sanford, North Carolina is seeking a Fabrications Product Quality Auditor to inspect fabrication structures and undercarriage, perform quality gates, and verify welds meet engineering specifications.

You will follow CPS principles (5S, CI idea reporting, waste elimination, standard work) and lift up to 35 pounds. The 2nd shift runs 2:15 PM – 10:15 PM with mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills are required.
• Ability to use measuring tools and check gauges.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar ATRS, PINPoint, Geneo preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook) preferred.
• Previous quality, welding or fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Completes inspections of fabrication structures and undercarriage using standard work, a checklist, and tooling provided (gauges, templates, etc.).
• Performs overall quality inspection at quality gates or at pre-delivery inspection.
• Inspects welds on the product to ensure it meets the specifications as outlined by Engineering.
• Identifies defects, takes pictures, and records results in the defect management system.
• Follows and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work.
