Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s Fabrication Engineering Group seeks a talented Fabrication & Process Quality Engineer to enhance shop floor quality management and implement Lean principles in a high-mix prototyping environment.

You will collaborate with program teams, shop area leads, and planning to optimize quality processes, lead QMS initiatives, and drive corrective actions, metrics, and risk analyses to improve inspection criteria and overall program satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership in problem solving and quality management systems.
  • Experience with statistical process controls and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and risk-based quality decisions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, inspection, planning, suppliers, and Mission Assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day operation of the Fabrication Engineering Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Drive standardization of quality processes across fabrication areas.
  • Lead corrective action activities (FRACAS, SCAR) and nonconformance management.
  • Provide guidance during nonconformance reviews to improve inspection criteria.
  • Lead monthly QMS meetings and maintain quality metrics and dashboards.
  • Prepare quarterly quality reports and manage closed-loop issues.
  • Participate in risk analyses for supplier, process, and equipment assessments.
  • Collaborate with Inspection, Mission Assurance, Engineering, and Program teams to improve quality terminology.
