Internship Job title:Fabrication & Prototyping Intern, Summer 2027
Department/Division: Research & Development / PXI
Hourly Range: To be determined based on academic class year or trade program
Location: Ada, MI (Onsite)
*Note: This position is an office role, and you must be able to report in-person to Ada on Mondays through Thursdays, with Friday as a remote optional day
What’s special about this team:

The Fabrication & Prototyping team transforms concepts into tangible prototypes that support product innovation across Amway. Working closely with Industrial Designers, Product Designers, and cross-functional partners, the team creates physical models that help evaluate form, function, usability, and manufacturability throughout the development process.

From early concept exploration through refinement and testing, the team combines digital modeling, 3D printing, and hands-on fabrication techniques to bring ideas to life. Their work plays a critical role in helping project teams make informed design and development decisions.

How would an intern contribute to the team’s success:

As a Fabrication & Prototyping Intern, you will work alongside experienced Model Makers, Industrial Designers, and Product Designers to transform packaging and product concepts into functional physical prototypes.

You will support active innovation projects by creating CAD models, 3D printing components, fabricating prototype parts, and preparing finished models for review and testing. Throughout the internship, you will gain hands-on experience working with a variety of fabrication methods, materials, prototyping equipment, and finishing techniques.

This role offers exposure to the full prototype development process while providing opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional partners across Research & Development.
