Qualifications

Internship Job title:Process Engineering Intern, Summer 2027

Department/Division: Supply Chain / Engineering & Manufacturing

Hourly Range: $23.60-$26.80

Location: Ada, MI (Onsite)

*Note: This position is an office role, and you must be able to report in-person to Ada on Mondays through Thursdays, with Friday as a remote optional day

The Process Engineering team partners closely with manufacturing operations to improve efficiency, quality, and reliability across production processes. Team members work directly with manufacturing teams to identify improvement opportunities, solve operational challenges, and implement sustainable process enhancements. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on environment where engineers have the opportunity to make a visible impact on day-to-day operations while contributing to broader continuous improvement initiatives.

How would an intern contribute to the team’s success:

As a Process Engineering Intern, you will support manufacturing improvement initiatives by analyzing processes, identifying opportunities for optimization, and helping implement solutions that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance operational performance. You'll work directly with engineers, operators, and cross-functional partners while gaining hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

An example of a typical project would be:
Example #1 - Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance operational performance. Apply problem-solving methodologies and data analysis to recommend and implement process improvements.

Example #2 - Process Optimization
  • Evaluate production cleaning cycles, equipment changeovers, or other manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency. Develop recommendations that reduce downtime, improve throughput, or minimize scrap.

Example #3 - Automation & Digital Solutions
  • Explore opportunities to automate repetitive activities currently performed manually. Partner with engineers and manufacturing teams to evaluate, test, and implement technology-enabled solutions that improve productivity and process consistency.
