Job summary

American Hydro in York, PA is seeking a Helper to support grinding and fabrication operations for hydro turbine components. The role involves grinding complex radii, masking for blasting/painting, and assisting fabricators and welders as needed.

Ideal candidates will perform setup assistance, read basic blueprints, and maintain a clean, safe work area. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a loud, industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate main crane, jib crane and forklifts to move and position components for optimum grinding performance
• Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
• Keep Supervisor informed of problems regarding assigned task, schedule, safety, etc. as conditions arise
• Perform final upgrade grinding on runner to crown/ band weld radii
• Perform final upgrade grinding wicket gate final blending
• Pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
• Observes safety and security procedures
• Reports potentially unsafe conditions
• Uses equipment and materials properly
• Adapts to changes in the work environment such as delays or unexpected events
• Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments.
• Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan
