Job summary

Andritz in Ruston, LA is seeking a Fabrication Fitter on the swing shift to assemble metal components per blueprints and specs. The role offers progression from Fitter I to Fitter II based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM with swing-shift differential. Candidates will read drawings, measure precisely, and work with welders to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–3 years of fabrication, fitting, welding, or related manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read a tape measure and use basic measuring tools.
• Basic math skills including fractions and decimals.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow work instructions, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team.

Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble metal components according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, prints, measurements, and layouts.
• Measure, position, align, and fit components to required specifications.
• Prepare materials and components for fabrication and welding.
• Perform tack welding and other fabrication work as required.
• Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, cutting equipment, and other shop equipment safely.
• Check dimensions, alignment, and fit-up to ensure finished products meet quality standards.
• Identify fit-up, material, or drawing issues and communicate concerns to the appropriate team member.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Follow established safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.
• Work collaboratively with welders and other team members to complete fabrication projects safely and efficiently.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, workflow, tooling, and fabrication processes.
