Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks an Energy Management Engineer to design control and measurement strategies for fuel and electrical energy usage of the Formula 1 power unit. You will implement on TAG-700 with the MA toolchain and work with ICE Controls, ERS, and Vehicle Performance teams.

The role emphasizes FIA regulation compliance, sensor fusion, and real-time energy accounting across race weekends, including dyno and track operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline with focus on control systems/energy systems.
• 4+ years in controls, energy management, or powertrain in automotive/aerospace/high-performance environment.
• Experience developing measurement/estimation strategies for energy, fuel, or electrical systems in regulated or performance-critical setting.

Responsibilities

• Design energy measurement and estimation strategies for fuel and electrical energy usage within FIA-compliant limits.
• Develop signal processing, sensor fusion, and estimation algorithms for real-time energy accounting.
• Implement energy management strategies on the TAG-700 using the MA toolchain and integrate with ICE/ERS controls.
